About this Safety Group Program – and the
Benefit to You
Law firms traditionally have better-than-average workers' compensation
claim experience, but it doesn't take many claims to have a devastating
effect on your bottom line. That's why Bertholon-Rowland and The
Hartford have joined forces to offer you this unique Safety Group Program
for Lawyers.
When you join this program, you partner with other law firms that are
committed to creating a safe working environment and adopting sound
loss prevention practices. In doing so, you can control your workers'
compensation costs – and take advantage of the benefits offered through
this program, such as the special Dividend Program.
The Dividend Program
Policyholders under this Safety Group Program are eligible for potential
annual dividends if loss experience for the program is favorable and
they have been insured for one year.
In recent years, dividends have ranged from 15.8% to 29%. Thus, in
addition to our premium discounts, policyholders can enjoy extra savings
when loss experience is favorable and dividends are paid.
Note: By law, future policyholder dividends cannot
be guaranteed. The Hartford's Board of Directors has the discretion
to declare policyholder dividends.

Case Management
Once a claim has been filed, The Hartford carefully manages each case
to provide cost-effective, timely and appropriate care.
Fraud Investigation
The Hartford has undertaken a well-organized effort to deter, detect
and prosecute workers' compensation claim fraud. Local claim professionals
can train you to identify potentially fraudulent claims from your
employees early in the claim process. And if a claim warrants further
investigation, it is referred to one of the insurer's Special Investigation
Units across the country. If the investigators establish probable
cause, they will turn the case over to the appropriate law enforcement
agency.
Litigation Management
The Hartford has mounted a powerful defense against the costs of workers'
compensation litigation through emphasis on prevention, sensitive
claim handling and in-house legal case management.
